The Lowestoft strumming seagull group, also known as the Lowestoft Ukeleles, was founded in 2017 by Liz Wood with conceptual help from Sharon Harbord, and hosted at the Seagull Theatre, managed by the wonderfully supportive Karen Read.
We started our journey as beginners, and since then have gigged at events in and around Lowestoft, raising money for charity.
We were involved in the Lowestoft First Light Festival with the Beccles Ukuleles, and in the GRIT beach regeneration project. Our members ages range from children to adults.
The goal has been to empower individuals to learn an easy fun instrument, to play together for well-being and this has naturally led to enabling confidence in performing. Some of members are now working with ukuleles and have become musicians.
