Lowestoft and Kessingland Beaches Earn Seaside Awards
Lowestoft’s South Beach and nearby Kessingland have been recognised with prestigious 2026 Seaside Awards from Keep Britain Tidy, celebrating the area’s high standards of cleanliness, safety and management.
The award highlights the stretch of coastline south of Claremont Pier, alongside Kessingland, as some of the best-managed coastal destinations in England, offering visitors a clean, safe and enjoyable seaside experience.
Recognising Quality Coastline
The Seaside Award is a nationally recognised standard that celebrates the quality and diversity of England’s coastline. It recognises beaches that provide a welcoming environment for visitors, even if they are not classified as traditional bathing waters.
Both Lowestoft’s South Beach (south of Claremont Pier) and Kessingland (designated as a non-bathing water beach) have met the rigorous criteria required to achieve this recognition.
